You will never be invited to present at TED Talks if you're a mere expert. Instead you had to position and package yourself as a Thought Hacker. And if you plan to ghostwrite those TED Talk remarks you better reinvent yourself as a Communications Disruptor.
This is not just a shift in buzzwords. It's a 180 in objectives. Thought Hackers and Communications Disruptors are finished with transition from the Information Age (along with the now-discredited Creative Class) to the Digital Era. Currently they are simply in there creating, unselfconsciously, the mental models which are framing how digitals see the world and then take action.
Yes, it has become binary: Either you hack into whatever and present that in fresh memes or you're irrelevant. Who is irrelevant? You know who they are. I know who they are. We no longer listen to them. They are no longer our clients.
