Somehow, I think the fans will hold on for dear life on Desperate Housewives, preventing its symbolic Fonzie from accelerating on his motorcycle toward the pool. However, The Apprentice probably jumped two seasons ago, and That ’70s Show has. The test, in my view, is when a show goes into self-parody and the characters become a shadow of themselves—a tried and trusted test for shark-jumping. Bree’s alcoholism mightn’t qualify—but it sure as heck comes close.
