That phenomenon began when Donald Trump began gaining traction in Campaign 2016. It's endured until very recently.
During that time period, if I included any keyword associated with Trumpism in the Title section of this blog, I was guaranteed a high page view count. One Saturday, there were over 4,000 click-ons in a few hours.
That was then.
Currently, it's obvious I have to come up with new forms of clickbait. Actually even I am bored with the tweets, fake news, SNL imitations, resignations and lawyers' discussing legal grounds for impeaching the new president.
The need to come up with other catchy topics is not new to this blog. When I was an early adopter in 2005, there was demand for personal opinion. That lasted until about 2008. Then traffic plummeted.
The how-to was the new clickbait. The ideal way to word the Title section was:

That remains in demand. But not as much as previously.
The way back to high traffic is through trial and error.
During the next few weeks I will experiment. Blogging is just like running a business in the 21st century. You unlearn so that you can try new things.
That's exactly how I triggered a major comeback for my ghostwriting boutique. My last experiment in marketing was on the money. Of course, I won't share the details of that.
