The Drudge Report reaches beyond the political games in Trumpville. Those include the showdown at high noon between the Judge (James Robart) and the President (Donald Trump).
The headline is on that amazing combination of The Quarterback & The Coach. Those are, of course, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. And their game - The Superbowl - has more megawatt star power than the show being played out by the Trumpetts. Here is the media coverage Drudge links to.
The synergy between Brady and Belichick is downright mystical. An additional pull force has been Brady's movie-star good looks.
But the game inside the game is that human beings, especially those under-30, could be breaking away from their video games for a real one in real time. The tactics on the field represent such brilliant or dumb strategy that full attention is demanded. There is no multi-tasking with a video game on the side.
Global youth have to be fully present. How often is that possible?
Less and less. In the heavily researched "Glow Kids," Nicholas Kardaras, Ph.D. positions and packages video games as the entity which has put young people in a trance. Consequently, they can't switch off and back to what is commonly agreed to be the real world.
That real world happens away from the iPad or smartphone screen. And what goes on ranges from concentrating in school to being able to connect with man the social animal. Kardaras explains that the leaders in tech, such as Steve Jobs, delayed introducing digital gadgets to their children. They didn't want to impede normal emotional and social development. And when they allowed the kids into digital, it was with rigid limits.
Maybe there are too many stressful unknows associated with a real sport played in real time. Maybe they are unable to process the feelings so commonplace when rooting for a team. Maybe reality has simply become too difficult to focus on.
For those who aren't caught in a digital trance, this could be the sports event which will become the metaphor for leaders in all disciplines. They will allude to X or Y. And every bit of that will resonate, immediately.
How sad it could be if so many under-30 miss that experience.
