Today, the temperatures in many of the stores is downright arctic. The temperature where we live from our window air conditioners is anything but. We are too conscious of the cost of electricity.
I dragged myself to my car and drove to the 99-cent store for 2 2-liter bottles of Diet Pepsi, each for, you got it, 99-cents. Inside was an ice box. I wound up roaming around the store, filling up a shopping cart.
Next, I went to PetSmart. That too was freezing. I took my time. The dog Lee K. now has enough chow to last into winter.
Of course, I was just getting started. By time I was finished, the sun had gone down. I could be okay in my place where the air conditioner was set at 75 degrees.
A Baby Boomer, I recalled when we used to hang out at the movies in summer, just for the air conditioning. The theatre folks were good businesspeople, weren't they.
