The analogy is the infertile couple who adopt. Then they get pregnant. That's the voodoo.
One reason I left the New York Metro area was that I wasn't getting enough writing assignments to put up with the pricey cost of living. I wrote myself off as too old and not well connected enough to make a good living partnering with Manhattan public relations agencies. Off to Arizona I went.
Two New York assignments have come my way. And I have only been here since Monday April 14th. It's palpable: I am presenting myself with more confidence and less angst.
After all, there's little to get my undies in a bunch about. The living is about a half what it had been in New York Metro. The ethos ain't about success. And people even take the time to celebrate holidays. For Easter my former college friend Dr. Kathleen Huebner, who teaches at a university here in Arizona, and I are actually going to a formal brunch at a country club. Our dogs will have a play date together.
