So, the whole proposition for what was once a hit series may have gone kaput. There are no current good wives, at least not those who captivate our attention and sympathy. And there may never be another one of those. Women have simply leaned in. They have their own sense of self, distinct from the paraphernalia of a marriage and even children.
What will be the next platform for a hit television series? It could be The Comeback, about a woman, man or transgender who is putting together a new professional and personal path, following adversity. After all, look at how difficult Eliot has been having it. The persona featured on the front page of the NEW YORK POST is light years away from the Good Guy Chasing the Bad Guys on Wall Street or The Gov.
