Notice the headline: It contains the phrase "Quan Jue," which in North Korea means "execution by dogs." Also, that phrase is tied to a current event. The head of North Korea imposed this death penalty on his uncle, once a favorite in his administration, and five other unlucky people.
Both the phrase from a foreign language and such a horrific version of being offed by the state are bound to get attention. They did.
On my legal blog, this post has gone viral and it contines to keep giving in terms of traffic.
That's the first tip about search engine optimization or SEO. Use catchy headlines and stick with the topical.
The second tip is to take a different kind of angle. No, I didn't deplore this way of execution. Instead I focused on the Chinese media coverage of the event. It seems the journalists in China are getting a kick out of covering the saga of a leader they suspect might be bonkers.
One more bit of advice: SEO is more art than science. Sure, study the rules by experts. But get out there and practice. Your gut will soon be doing the creating and your eyes will pop observing all the traffic.
