Before digital, alcoholic writers could live in anticipatory euphoria that they would get a snow day, which they could drink away. Of course, sometimes there were forecasts of snow which were inaccurate, writers started in early on the drinking, and had to show up for work hung over.
Now, in a digital era, there are no longer any snow days. Writers can do even the complex research online. The document can be transmitted on-time via email. The recipient can email back directions for revisions.
Today it is the first real snow storm in New England. There is no joy in Writersville.
