Just as with the 20 children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School, we wonder what 3-year-old Kirill's last minutes were like. Did he feel stark terror when his father Dmitriy Kanarikov tossed his off the roof of the 52-story building in Manhattan? Or did he assume it was a game and spent the next few minutes enjoying the sensation of flying?
Of course we will never know. After Kanarikov tossed his son, he himself jumped to his death. As the NEW YORK POST reports, the father was upset about a custody battle with his estranged wife. He was scheduled to turn the child over to his mother at a police facility in Manhattan. Kanarikov had come to live in Brooklyn from the Ukraine. Here is that coverage from the POST.
The tragedy is that children tend to get caught up in the field of force of adults' battles. They also tend to be favored targets for the insane.
