Recently, a self-satisfied Millennial published his book. At first, of course, it did well. He knew the trick of having those on his network all run out and buy the book at the same time. And there was that pile-on of reviews which gushed with praise.
Then, as with many books with the exception of "This Town," it began tumbling down. There would be some recovery of ranking. For instance, when it hit the 50,000 category, it might reach back into the 40,000s for a while. Then the plunge would be to the 60,000 category.
Compulsively, I checked the numbers. It's the best batch of schadenfreude ever.
