So, there have been protests in locations where the film is being shown. Those, some in black hoods, contend there is a celebration of torture and the politicos opposing those enhanced methods are depicted as out to lunch.
However, there are those of us who didn't come away from the film assuming that was the takeaway. Instead what was highlighted and continually reinforced was the persistent passionate detective work of the CIA analyst. To do that she bucked the system, including her superiors, and could have deep-sixed her career. She did not seem to either approve of or disapprove of torture. That wasn't really the issue and maybe that is really what has upset the critics.
