THE NEW YORK POST, once derided as barely a step up from gossip tabloids, is emerging as a hot source of influence.
POLITICO, for example, explains how News Corp head Rupert Murdoch seems to be using it to voice his views on gun control, instead of Fox News or THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.
What I am finding is that THE POST is the ideal hunting ground for compelling news that other media outlets haven't noticed yet. For my legal blog I used to go over Law.com and Abovethelaw.com with a fine-tooth comb. Now I go directly to THE POST. That's where I got flagged early about the Upper West Side Nanny who murdered two children. Since this kind of information is fresh, the blog has more readers.
THE POST could usurp the power establishment media once had as being the first-to-read. That means it could attract more and more talent as well as being the last left standing when the rest of the New York newspapers simply can't support themselves.

So… thank you Mr. Competitor. We appreciate your efforts!
