With his 47-percenter talk at the GOP fundraiser, presidential candidate Mitt Romney broke open for public view that he seemingly embraced and practiced the politics of shaming.
Now that that is out there, we who had been or are members of the 47-percent can begin the work of getting over any shame which we attached to over the years after we had received help and which hovers over how we are making it now.
Ironically, this one speech could be a game-changer for how we 47-percenters feel about ourselves, analogous to what the civil rights, feminist, and gay movements did for those they represented. Here in Bella Vista, New Haven, Connecticut, a senior citizen complex subsidized by government funds, there are residents who torture themselves with the question, "How did I wind up here?" The reality is that residents are fortunate to have been admitted. It's a safe, well-maintained activity-filled place to live, with one-bedroom apartments @ 700 square feet + a balcony. To pass all the gatekeepers, a good credit rating, evidence of character, and a certain level of monthly income are required.
It's, one might say, a new day in America. We who have earned entitlements can feel blessed versus being shamed.

Nice article like explanation thanks for sharing
