As a recovering Catholic, of course I was bug-eyed by all the studies which showed the low trust in society's most important institutions. For example, a recent ABC poll puts it at 14% for Congress. Bad, bad, I thought to myself.
Then, that internal paradigm shift came when I stopped being so schoolgirlish. If Congress is held in such low regard then why are so many pillars of their community trying to get elected for a job in it and why are we kicking in so much money to help them get there? Sure, they might say they want to reform it. And, sure, that's what everyone says.
I have given trust a lot of thought. I have decided it just doesn't matter much or at all. I explore this topic for financial information site Motley Fool. Here you can read all about it.
