Brilliant, I thought to myself. A start-up team was interviewing me for a possible financial writing assignment in front of a fireplace. That was in Panera in North Haven, Connecticut. The leader of the team pushed the tables in a way that we could all watch the flames as we talked and sipped our Hazelnut coffee.
The startup came across as cool, yet frugal. Panera is a fast casual dining outlet, just one notch up from fast food. I came across better than I would have because the flickering flames relaxed me.
We were not the only cool customers. Those two tables over were gazing at charts on their laptops. Panera has free Wi-Fi.
This morning I found out that I got the assignment. We are meeting Monday afternoon to start. It will be in front of the fireplace at Panera.
I analyzed the positioning of Panera in the fast casual category for financial information company Motley Fool. Here you can read all about it.
