Does this secrecy about a New Year's resolution indicate true resolve on Governor Sandwiches's part? Could be. Chris Christie,New Jersey's Governor, is a mighty ambitious guy. And he has been taking it on the chin and elsewhere about his excess weight. The media has even debated if a roly-poly could be elected U.S. President. Sure, Bill Clinton was no lightweight, but, as they say, he carried his weight well and it didn't reduce his appeal to women interns.
It would be a shrewd media move for Christie to keep a sensible eating program under wraps and let POLITICO et al. keep guessing if the guy was going to stick with it.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who seems to have put on a few, might consider wiser choices at all those diplomatic dinners as the New Year's resolution. For a 2012 run she will have to be down to her fighting weight.
