On "The Good Wife" everything has changed. The fictional law firm, which had only a year to go before it was likely to tank, is saved. It's through a merger with a D.C. firm. With that merger comes Derek Bond who is his own man. He is a sort of Greek Chorus chanting for the new model of law firms.
Among what he introduces is competition for Kalinda. Instead of focusing on her chip on the shoulder, she has to fight for their turf in the law firm. That's because he brings his own private eye.
Another part of the new model is formal mentoring for associates. He appoints himself Alicia's mentor, which ends Will's hold on her. Perhaps he heard rumors of the romantic pull between the two, discerned Alicia's talent, and chose to cultivate it.
Also, Queen Bee Diane, like Kalinda, might be dethroned. She gives one of those exaggerated shocked looks that we usually see on the afternoon soap operas when she watches the new guy and Will tentatively bond. Up to now she was the best player in the firm. Now Will is showing he too can make the right moves.
Meanwhile on the domestic front, Peter delivers oral sex to Alicia. That could be the beginning of the re-start of their marriage. A Colorado sex scandal has re-stimulated the media's interest in theirs. Child's, the arch enemy, is piggybacking on this. That means that the scandal has been brought to life again, at least in the media. Will it draw Alicia and Peter closer together or finish off the relationship?
There is always the possibility that the new man and Alicia might fall in love. She is still very vulnerable and not yet has found her sense of self. A powerful man could take her over, again.
