In THE NEW YORK TIMES, Brian Stelter is among the many opining on Anderson Cooper's coming daytime talk show. Stelter notes having this gravitas newscaster attempt to extend his range to lighter chatty fare could dilute the brand.
My angst is that Cooper doesn't have the experience to bring about the post-Oprah. We don't want another Oprah, do we. We want something fresh in the talk space. Remember when Ellen came with a fresh approach? She sure stole Oprah's ratings.
Someone with the experience in talk would have the confidence to take us into the next version of afternoon talk.
