Marie Osmond's son Michael Blosil committed suicide by jumping from a window. According to the media and his suicide note, he suffered from depression.
It's easy for us depressives to forget that we really are struggling with a possibly fatal illness. Maybe there should be a medal, pinned on us by the president, for those of us who make it to the other side of depressive episode, without checking out. My first depression was at age 11. I have a hunch it was my love of language and hope of becoming a writer which kept me plugged in.
