The money's gone. So the next best way to survive and maybe even thrive is to live by our wits. We can't buy our way into anything. A major component of living by one's wits is to make the right read on people and match that with the right behavior at the right time. That kind of ability is called Emotional Intelligence [EI]. Nobody psychologist Daniel Goleman became hot in the mid 1990s through describing what is is and documenting its cause-effect link with success, especially in the workplace.
When my business crashed just after the dot.coms I took an inventory of my own EI. Not much there on the shelves. So I reached back to my beginnings on the wild streets of downtown Jersey City, New Jersey during the 1950s. Post-War II affluence was late coming there so, you got it, everyone including us urban urchins, had to live by our wits. Here is the [free] e-book on what I had to re-learn about EI Download CUsersjasneDocumentsjg.
Over-50 and out of work or fear that? You may need a bit more than a higher EI. Here [free] is my other e-book on making a buck, not matter what, when we are geezers Download Geezerguts.
