"Boston Legal" - Great camera panning for recovering Catholics
We all agree: "Boston Legal" is uneven. But we keep tuning in because of nuggets of genius. Tonight that was all clustered in the courtroom camera panning on the male Roman Catholic clergy who felt completely confident defending the no-female-priest policy. The one on the stand couldn't have been better depicted by any Catholic who can't seem to heal from all that. Fat, smug, beady eye, you just know he's moral pond scum.
As a writer, just like artist part of Madonna, I derive so many concepts and images from my RC background. I never tire of blogging about the symbolism of my first communion dress, the vow of poverty I took in 2003, and my preoccupation with saving souls.
There's more. Being an RC until I was 23 equipped me with a lifetime of mysticism. Unlike my equally over-educated buddies I can enter other realms of experience. I love to go away to those other worlds. Perhaps I'm still waiting to have visions like my fave saints.
