"CSI: Miami" - Cliffhanger with Callie Kidnapped, Horatio Trapped in Rio

We have to wait until Tuesday evening to find out how Callie and Horatio get out of their respective messes.  Tonight on "CSI: Miami," the writers did a bang-up job with all the twists and turns of the plot.  There is a specially scheduled part-two tomorrow night.

Convergence - Talking about Social Media, So Yesterday

Social or new media proved such a useful advocacy and marketing tool that almost overnight that media went from early adopter to mature.  Its power has been absorbed into the communications and selling mix.  So, anyone who's still talking about "social media" is probably out of the loop.  The whole thing converged into a standard business solution.

Horace Mann - Caricature of "Lord of the Flies"

In the NEW YORK Magazine article by Gabriel Sheman on Horace Mann we get a caricature of "Lord of the Flies."  The kids aren't just playing out the usual primitive dark behaviors of young people without the constraints of civilization. Their meanness towards each other and everyone else, be it a superior or "inferior" [god help the help in their homes], is strategically calculated.  They intend to wound and accomplish just that.

Those Help-Wanted Ads - Leave 'em to Capitalist Virgins

It's been three decades since Richard Nelson Bolles told us to stop answering help-wanted ads and find ourselves a job or get more clients/customers for our business.  His manifesto was packaged as "What Color Is Your Parachute?"  Down-and-out in the mid-1970s I read it and applied its insights.  That's how I first broke into the field of public relations and then went on to snag a big job in corporate PR.  So did plenty of others who are now professional successes.  So, why are there too many Capitalist Virgins out there who are still restricting their search for opportunity to the help-wanted?

Carly Fiorina - Here's hoping the Dems shoot themselves in the foot

It would be interesting to observe how fallen corporate star Carly Fiorina handles a comeback.  Will she be an improved version of the old Carly or a whole new edition?  We could get that chance if the Dems implode and John McCain wins the election come November.

Long Legs or 20 Points More IQ

We say we value intelligence.  But what we pay the most for is beauty, particularly the young leggy female kind.  Former DC blogger and Manhattan hottie Jessica Cutler has no current ceilings on her earnings.  Yet, female attorneys, reports the American Bar Association, are losing earning power.  In 2006, they earned 70.5 percent of what their male counterparts make, down from 77.5 percent in 2005.  So much for intelligence.

DC Blogger Jessica Cutler Gets Around Manhattan

When blogging on Washingtonienne.com about her multiple DC-area Sugar Daddies, Jessica Cutler used their initials.  That got into a lawsuit, which is on-hold since she filed for bankruptcy.  On one of the versions of her website, she claimed to jump out of cakes for money.  In Manhattan, reports, THE NEW YORK POST's Laura Italiano et al., Cutler has become associated with the same call-girl ring which alleged to include Eliot Spitzer as a client.  Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau denies that Spitzer had been involved with that ring.

Curious Sex & The Upper Middle Class Man

It goes back to British BigWig John Profumo. His aberrant romp with call girls cost him his career.  Then there was the JFK sex follies. More recently we got wealthy Ivy educated Eliot Spitzer enmeshed with addictive sex with high-priced hookers.  Now it's the British-born head of global patents at Pfizer.  Arrested at JFK Airport Alan Hesketh is accused of allegedly receiving, possessing and distributing child pornography. Is there something in the upbringing or the value system [think entitlement] of the upper-middle class male which too often leads to strange and destructive sexual behavior? Perhaps it's just simple opportunity and the resources to take advantage of that.
