Should we be reading anything into this? On Mediabistro.com there's a blurb that former FORTUNE senior writer Betsy Morris is leaving PORTFOLIO to return to FORTUNE. Before Morris was at FORTUNE, she spent 14 years at THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.
Is this just a case of something not working out or is it the first rat off a sinking ship? Because its debut was so high-profile, just like Katie's on CBS' "Evening News," PORTFOLIO has attracted more than the usual attention. Also, throw in that its backers have invested more than $100 million in its well-being - at a time when business print publications are losing ad revenue.
My bet? Morris saw the future and it was old-media insularity, glitz and downward spiral.
