In this era of passion and earnestness, THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR isn't. Yet its intelligence is there and riveting. And the magazine is funny. It was its Editor-in-Chief R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. who renamed Bill Clinton The Boy President. Each month I scan THE AMERICAN SPECTATOR in Barnes & Noble and wind up spending $5.95. I don't have a subscription because, well, I'm too liberal for that.
As the Democrats in Campaign08 begin eating each other and their young, Tyrrell will have a ball capturing that self-destruction in a party which should have it all and seems to lose it all. The magazine will also find ways to position well the Republicans in Campaign08 even when they don't deserve it.
In the April edition the best article is on Hillary's warm-and-fuzzy website, a protective bubble which prevents her from having to deal with the media or anyone else person-to-person.
