Ellen stumbled over her words on today's "Ellen." The reason, it turns out, was Mouse. Mouse is the newest edition to the Ellen Family and, I hope, the show. The emotion was so fresh, so real, so electric. Mouse and Ellen's love of Mouse (kisskiss) stole our hearts.
We don't find this kind of emotion and haven't for years on "Oprah," including Oprah's brand-extending road show and her crashing two weddings (no funerals).
Maybe Oprah and her producers are just tired. Maybe they crossed that line from caring about wowing the audience to seeing the show as a cash cow. This is sad because Oprah used to help us get inspired, fill up with hope and think in new ways. I ask Oprah et al. to fix the show or stop milking the cash cow and just do something else, e.g. run that school in Africa.
