Who ever thinks about checking how much cash we have in our pocket? How yesterday. But yesterday I was in Providence, Rhode Island on business and plenty thirsty/hungry. I bellied up to the counter and put down 3 brandname beverages in darling bottles and a Greek salad. That totaled $9.31. I had $9. No credit cards accepted.
Since I'm an aging Baby Boomer who grew up in a cash society, I knew exactly what to do. I offered to give back the cute iced tea. Of course, such a transaction doesn't go down w/o shame. I put down my head. The altruistic clerk said, "That's okay, Lady. You can bring it in tomorrow." Trust: That's really yesterday.
This morning I did check my cash. I have enough to pay back the clerk and have 3 iced teas. Forget food. No time to hunt down an ATM.
